Common questions.

Yes. The 2-pass 8-bin algorithm produces 9.2 riffle shuffle equivalents, which is well above the mathematical threshold (~7 riffles) needed for a deck to be considered "truly randomized." We have published the statistical analysis and simulation code in our GitHub repository so you can verify it yourself.

Any standard poker-size cards (2.5" x 3.5") work with ShuffleDeck Core, including plastic (KEM, Copag, Faded Spade) and paper-stock cards. For the RFID add-on, you need RFID-tagged cards such as Faded Spade RFID decks or other 13.56MHz ISO 14443A compatible cards.

The kit ships with 3D-printed parts, pre-soldered electronics, and pre-flashed firmware. Assembly takes about 2 hours with basic tools (screwdriver, hex keys). No soldering required. We provide step-by-step video guides and a detailed written manual. If you can build IKEA furniture, you can build ShuffleDeck.

No. The electronics come pre-assembled and pre-flashed. You just connect a few ribbon cables and plug in the power supply. However, since the firmware is open source and the controller is an ESP32, the project is fully hackable if you want to customize it.

In a home game, the rules are whatever the host decides. RFID reading is standard in casino poker broadcasts and is used for entertainment and streaming purposes. The data is shown to viewers on a configurable delay (typically 30 seconds to 5 minutes) and is never visible to players at the table. Check your local regulations if you operate a licensed card room.

Absolutely. ShuffleDeck Core is a standalone product. The RFID module is a completely separate add-on that you can purchase and install later. Most home games will just want Core for faster, better shuffling. RFID is primarily for streamers and content creators.
